Does Matera have an airport?

No. The reference airport is Bari (Karol Wojtyła), about 50 minutes away and the closest airport to Matera. The second is Naples Capodichino. There is no "Matera airport": we take care of the airport transfer for you, at a fixed price agreed in advance.

By train and by bus

Matera is connected to Bari by the FAL railway (Matera Centrale station). The nearest Trenitalia station is Ferrandina-Matera, about 30 minutes from the city. Buses are run by Flixbus, Miccolis, Marino and Cotrab: they are cheap, but come with fixed timetables, changes and intermediate stops. A taxi from the airport is another option, but it runs on a meter and works out expensive. If you would rather leave when you want, door-to-door and at a fixed price, a private transfer is the most comfortable choice.
